Extract a clean, transparent-background PNG signature from a photo of your handwriting on paper. Create a reusable, professional transparent signature image from a phone photo without needing Photoshop.
Write on plain unlined white paper for the cleanest separation; ruled notebook lines dark enough to match the pen ink will also be preserved.
How PDFolio helps you signature background remover
PDFolio analyzes pixel luminance across your image, turns light paper pixels completely transparent, applies smooth alpha feathering along ink edges, recolors the strokes to your chosen pen color, and auto-crops empty whitespace.

Before you download
If faint paper texture remains visible, lower the threshold slightly (e.g., from 185 to 160). If thin pen strokes look faint, raise the threshold (e.g., to 205).
When the result is ready, download it immediately and open it in your usual PDF viewer to make a final check. You can then use Clear task data to release temporary file references from this browser tab. PDFolio does not create an account, cloud folder, or server-side document history.
A private way to signature background remover

Can I turn my black pen signature into blue ballpoint ink?
Yes. Select Ballpoint Blue as the Ink Color to recolor your extracted signature strokes.
Does it automatically crop out extra white paper around my signature?
Yes. PDFolio detects the bounding box of the ink strokes and crops the transparent PNG tightly.
Does signature background remover change my original file?
No. PDFolio creates a new file for download. Your source file remains unchanged on your device.
