PRIVACY POLICY

Your document stays in your browser.

PDFolio processes files on your device and never uploads them. Optional website analytics is separate from document processing and only starts after you allow it.

Two separate things

Your documents are processed entirely in your browser and are never transmitted to us or to anyone else. The website can collect ordinary usage analytics only after you choose to allow analytics. Analytics does not have access to file names or document contents.

What happens when you choose a file

Your browser reads the file into the active tab and passes its bytes to a local Web Worker. The worker performs the PDF task and returns the result to the same tab for download. PDFolio does not send document content to a server, and there is no upload queue, document database, or account system. This is a technical property of how the site is built, not a policy promise: the processing code runs on your device.

When task data is removed

Clearing a task releases the selected file references and result data. Closing or refreshing the page also clears temporary in-memory task data. PDFolio does not persist your documents in local storage, and no copy of a processed file survives the browser tab.

Optional website analytics

If you select Allow analytics, PDFolio loads Google Analytics (GA4) to understand which pages and tools are useful and how the site performs. It can record the page visited, referrer, approximate location, device type, browser, language, and session duration. If you select Essential only, the analytics script is not loaded. Your choice is stored locally in your browser so the site can remember it.

Advertising

PDFolio does not currently load advertising code. If Google AdSense is enabled in the future, this policy and the consent interface will be updated before ads are served. Where required, PDFolio will use a Google-certified consent management platform for advertising consent. Ads will not be designed to look like upload, processing, navigation, or download controls. Your choices

Use the Privacy choices control in the site footer at any time to review or change your analytics preference. Browser-level tracking protection and cookie controls also work normally. Refusing analytics does not affect any PDF tool.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or object to personal-data processing and to request a portable copy. PDFolio has no user accounts or document database. Questions or requests can be sent to hello@thepdfolio.com.

Retention

If analytics is allowed, Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention period configured for the property and Google's terms. PDFolio itself stores no server-side copy of your documents.

Children

PDFolio is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, contact us and we will address it.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated if the site's use of analytics or advertising changes. The version in effect is the one published on this page. Last updated: 4 October 2026.
