About add header and footer to PDF

Add a short header and footer across selected pages. Repeat a project name, internal reference, document status, or contact line across a report or file packet.

One header line and one footer line are applied, and the same text appears on every selected page: there are no per-page variables, so a page number or a date has to be typed as literal text and will read identically throughout. Text is drawn in 9-point Helvetica, aligned left, centre, or right, at a fixed 24 points from the top and 18 points from the bottom. Only Latin characters render. The lines are drawn over the existing page rather than reflowing it, so a document with tight margins may end up with text overlapping its own content.

How PDFolio helps you add header and footer to PDF

Enter a header, a footer, or both, choose left, centre, or right alignment, and select the pages that should receive it. Leave a field empty when you only need one of the two labels.

Use Page Numbers when the value has to change from page to page, because that is exactly the case this tool cannot handle. Use Watermark when the text should sit diagonally across the page rather than along an edge. For a document that needs both a running header and page numbers, apply this tool first and then Page Numbers to the result.

Before you download

Short plain labels are easiest to read across mixed page layouts. This tool supports fixed text; use Page numbers for numbering formats, and do not expect dynamic date or page-number tokens in the current header and footer workflow.

When the result is ready, download it immediately and open it in your usual PDF viewer to make a final check. You can then use Clear task data to release temporary file references from this browser tab. PDFolio does not create an account, cloud folder, or server-side document history.

A private way to add header and footer to PDF

PDFolio handles the selected files in the active browser tab. A Web Worker on your device performs the PDF task so the interface can remain responsive; document bytes are not sent to a PDF processing server, upload queue, account database, or advertising platform.

Steps

  1. Add a PDF.
  2. Enter header or footer text and choose alignment.
  3. Select pages if needed, then process.

Good to know: This version supports fixed text, not dynamic date or page-number tokens.
