Simple terms for a private PDF toolkit.

PDFolio is provided as a free browser-based utility for working with files on your own device. By using the site you agree to these terms, which are meant to be read rather than merely accepted.

Using PDFolio

You may use PDFolio for lawful personal, educational, and commercial document tasks, with no account and no licence fee. You are responsible for the files you select and for ensuring that you have the right to process their contents. Because processing happens on your own device, you retain full ownership of your documents and of anything you produce with the tools; we acquire no rights over them and no copy of them.

Acceptable use

Do not use PDFolio to infringe copyright, privacy, confidentiality, or other rights, to remove protection from a document you are not authorised to open, or to alter a record with intent to deceive. The unlock and redaction tools exist for legitimate work with your own files and with documents you are entitled to handle. Do not attempt to disrupt the site, misrepresent it as your own service, or use automated means to overload it.

Local processing and your responsibility

PDFolio processes files locally in your browser. You remain responsible for saving the downloaded result and for clearing task data when finished. There are no cloud backups, no accounts, and no document recovery: if you close the tab before downloading a result, that result is gone and we cannot retrieve it, because we never had it.

Redaction and irreversible operations

Some tools change a document in ways that are difficult or impossible to undo, and redaction in particular deserves care. Always verify a redacted or flattened document before distributing it, and treat the original as the authoritative copy until you have confirmed the output is what you intended. Review important output before sharing, filing, printing, or relying on it for legal, financial, medical, or other high-stakes purposes.

No warranty

The tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Browser capabilities change, and a tool that works today on one device may behave differently on another. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that a given document will process successfully.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PDFolio and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the site. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Third-party services

The website uses Google Analytics and may display advertising supplied by Google AdSense. These services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and they operate on the website rather than on your documents. What they collect, and how to opt out, is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Intellectual property

The PDFolio name, site design, and written guides are the property of their authors. The tools are built on open-source libraries that remain under their own licences. Brand names mentioned on the site belong to their respective owners and do not imply affiliation or endorsement.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the site changes. The version in effect is the one published on this page, and continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of it. Last updated: 7 September 2026.
