About split PDF by file size

Break a large PDF into multiple smaller PDF files, each staying at or below your target megabyte limit. Submit large scanned packets to government portals, court filing systems, or email attachments that enforce strict per-file megabyte caps.

This tool splits along page boundaries without recompressing images. If an individual page contains a massive image that exceeds your MB limit by itself, use Compress PDF first.

How PDFolio helps you split PDF by file size

PDFolio incrementally adds pages into a candidate chunk and measures the exact serialized byte size in your browser tab, starting a new chunk whenever adding the next page would exceed your MB threshold.

If you prefer to keep the entire document in a single file, try Compress PDF first to see if lossless or image compression brings it under the limit.

Before you download

Set the size limit slightly below the portal cap (for example, 9.5 MB for a 10 MB limit) to leave room for email encoding overhead.

When the result is ready, download it immediately and open it in your usual PDF viewer to make a final check. You can then use Clear task data to release temporary file references from this browser tab. PDFolio does not create an account, cloud folder, or server-side document history.

A private way to split PDF by file size

PDFolio handles the selected files in the active browser tab. A Web Worker on your device performs the PDF task so the interface can remain responsive; document bytes are not sent to a PDF processing server, upload queue, account database, or advertising platform.
